As soon as the bi-annual haute couture fashion weeks arrive, us fashion devotees at Club L HQ get the urge to throw our next paychecks at a piece of runway magic; whether it’s an entrance-making maxi or a bag that will only be worn for special occasions from the point of purchase.
In reality, the likelihood of owning a genuine piece of new-season couture is slim (we’re talking 5-digit price tags!), but that won’t stop us on our mission to collect high-fashion pieces. It certainly helps to work in an office with its own in-house design studio, and our High Society collection has been highly anticipated with every sample we've spotted these past months.
Influenced by the art, extravagance and beauty of beau monde, this collection reapproaches event dressing through monochrome polka dots, floral prints and pinstripes with a nod to masculinity, reinvigorated through experimental, ultra-femme silhouettes.
Sculptural scuba crepes, voluminous ruffles and excessive drapes push the boundaries of formal dress codes - transforming figure-hugging pieces in pale pink satins, taffetas and vivid orange crepes into works of art with savoir faire. After perusing the collection rails ourselves, it wasn’t long till we’d decided what couture-like pieces belonged in our wardrobes this season and for seasons to come.
From romantic separates to Audrey Hepburn-esque mini dresses, here’s what we’re buying from the High Society capsule.
